Joachim Hunold

Joachim Hunold was born on September 5, 1949 in Düsseldorf, Germany, and he is now married and has four children. After completing secondary school in 1970, Mr Hunold studied law and began his career in aviation in 1978 with Braathens Air Transport, Düsseldorf. From 1982 until 1990 he held the position of Sales and Marketing Director with the LTU Group. In April 1991 Mr Hunold founded Air Berlin GmbH & Co. Luftverkehrs KG. After the acquisition of Air Berlin Inc., he first headed the airberlin group as the Managing Partner and then as the CEO starting January 1, 2006 after the new holding company structure was created. On September 1, 2011, Joachim Hunold resigned as CEO of Air Berlin PLC but is still a member of its Board of Directors.
